Keeping your kids safe while they’re swinging, sliding and climbing starts with making sure their playset is in top shape. And let’s be honest, between weather, everyday wear and tear, and years of backyard fun, outdoor playsets often take a beating. That’s why a little regular maintenance goes a long way in protecting your investment and giving your family peace of mind.
REGULAR INSPECTIONS KEEP YOUR PLAYSET SAFE & SECURE
Bolts & Hardware
Ensure all bolts and fasteners are tight and rust-free. Replace any missing or corroded parts immediately.
Chains & Ropes
Check for fraying, rust, or weak spots. Chains should move freely; ropes should feel strong
Wood & Splinters
Check for cracks, warping, or splintersespecially on handrails and steps. Sand rough areas and reseal if needed.
Check for Pests
Look for insects or pests around your swing set.
Anchors & Stability
Make sure anchors are secure and the structure feels solid. The playset should not wobble during use.
Repair or Replacement of Parts
If you notice any of the following, fix or remove immediately to prevent injury: Loose or worn hardware; protruding parts; debris, rocks, or roots in the play area; rust or chipped paint; splinters, damaged or decayed wood; or missing/damaged components.
Stain and Seal Your Wood
Apply a sealant or semi-transparent stain within 90 days, then reapply every few years. This keeps your playset looking fresh and protects the wood from moisture and UV damage.
